One on the ridgeline a good cairned track runs north east, sawtoothing over intermediate peaks first east then ESE to the long climb up pt1699. Track is well used and well defined.
From pt1669 the track becomes even more distinct, heading north over Te Wetenga. Amazing views as far as Hikurangi to the east. Track soon swings east.
